Panorama deny Residents claims
The BBC and Panorama have denied claims by Residents from Page Moss, that they paid teenage gang members to buy guns whilst making the TV programme "Young Gunmen".
The Chief Constable of Merseyside Bernard Howe Hogan wrote a letter to the BBC after being informed by numerous Residents that the Panorama team had paid teenagers to go and buy guns and then pose with them on camera.
The programme, made in October 2007 was about two gangs from the Huyton area of Page Moss and the Dovecot area of Liverpool.
A spokesman from the BBC said "the BBC have given clear assurances to the Police that at no time, was anybody in the programme paid any money."
